Thailand is more of a transit destination for us on this trip, offering the cheapest flights in and out of the region. Though we didn’t spend too much time here, sticking primarily to a few towns en route to the Laos border, the allure of this country is palpable.
For me, Thailand is familiar – I spent two months interning in the north in 2012 and have explored some of the southern islands on previous visits. For Charlie, this is his first trip. But whether you’re a returning traveller or a first-timer in Thailand, it’s hard not be charmed by the friendly people, the delicious (and cheap) street food and the lively markets, characteristic of most Thai towns.
This time we didn’t get to see as much of the lush countryside or the famed beaches, but as we keep passing through Thailand in transit over the next couple months, we hope to explore more of the country. For now, here are some impressions of bustling Bangkok, historic Ayuthaya and sleepy but colorful Nong Khai.
